About Our Rector (Senior Pastor)
Fr. Tom Finnie was born in Albany, New York and raised in the mountains of Western Pennsylvania. He holds a degree in accounting from West Virginia University and a Masters of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary. He served as an auditor with Arthur Anderson and Co. and G. C. Murphy Company before entering seminary in 1986. He and Marianne married in 1985 and have one adult daughter who serves as a clinical social worker with children. His hobbies include restoring vintage racing motorcycles to their former glory.
Since graduating from seminary in 1989, Fr. Tom has served six parishes beginning as a full time youth pastor in a small city north of Pittsburgh and serving successively as the assistant rector a large downtown Pittsburgh congregation, as the rector of a smaller congregation south of Pittsburgh, as rector of Christ Church here in Midland, and as founding rector of All Saints. He also led the youth discipleship program for the Diocese of Pittsburgh from 1991 until 2007.
Fr. Tom’s passion in ministry is making the Bible understandable. Through sermons which explain the Bible in practical, everyday terms to classes which lead you through whole books of the Bible or one of the Bible’s great themes, the goal is always the same – to help you grow in your relationship with God and with others. At All Saints, the words of Scripture become the foundation for all we believe, say, and do. And when we fail to live what we know, we trust God’s Word to bring us back on track again.
In May of 2012, Fr. Tom answered the call to join others in launching a new congregation which is truly Anglican, biblically faithful and focused on building a healthy, healing Christian community. More than simply a place to worship, All Saints is a community in Christ—a fellowship of believers committed to supporting one another, enjoying one another, and reaching beyond our own circle to include others who want to be part of a Christian community. It was just such a community that led Fr. Tom to Christ in his early 20s. It is just such a community that reflects the love of Christ now to those who know they need him.
